A Black Woman's Breast Cancer Journey Part 8
I made it to the finish line!!! My last 2 days of chemo and I was able to ring the bell. I had mixed feelings about ringing the bell because it's still up in the air about what's going to happen after surgery. I don't know what they will find or how my body will react. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that I'm done chemo and my maintenance drugs don't have the extreme side effects as my chemo. Next up....bi-lateral mastectomy and reconstruction.

Today marks my hardest chemo session to date. Session 4 took me out. The fatigue and the body aches were terrible. Emotionally and mentally I'm falling a part but I know that the prayers of my family and friends and the only things that have been keeping me going. I'm so close to being done but the struggle is definitely real!!!

The C Word- Part 1 of My Breast Cancer Journey
I decided to Vlog my breast cancer journey because I want woman to see that any of us can be diagnosed with cancer at anytime. I was 41 years old when I was diagnosed and it felt lonely. I would go into my appointments and wouldn't see anyone who looked like me. Everyone was old and white. My therapist recommended that I find a breast cancer group for black woman with breast cancer so I joined a group on Facebook and it changed my life. To see so many black women of all ages talking about their struggles, successes and stressors from their diagnosis made me feel seen. Because of that I wanted to document my journey to put another face out there for people to see.

Follow me along for the big chop!! A Black Woman's Breast Cancer Journey- Part 2
Losing my hair has been a big concern of mine before starting my treatment. One of the members of the breast cancer Facebook group cut her hair short before starting treatment and felt it made a big difference in how she dealt with her hair falling out once her treatment started. I decided to take her advice and cut my hair before starting chemotherapy. To be honest I really like the final look!
